From time to time, here at Cherry Stereo we’ll present Unsung Classics. As you might guess from the title, these posts will focus on sadly overlooked or mostly-forgotten tunes that deserve to be singled out for further attention and praise. First up, Crabby Appleton‘s “Go Back.”

“Go Back” cracked the US top 40, hitting #36 on the US Billboard “Hot 100.” It’s frustrating that a song this cool is rarely heard today, even on oldies radio.

Crabby Appleton singer, Michael Fennelly posted a rare video of the band’s performance on John Byner’s Something Else TV series from 1970. The clip includes the show’s hip opening and it’s worth viewing. If you want to jump right to the song, it begins at 2:17.
